Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2015年4月25日発生したネパール・ゴルカ地震の総合調査を行った。得られた結果は次のようである.
地震の発生機構の解明，断層活動や地震動による山間部での斜面災害の発生機構の解明，建築物・土木構造物の被害の実態解明，地震・雪氷複合災害の実態解明とリスク評価などの観点から総合的な調査を実施することで，ネパール国における二次災害の軽減と復興計画策定に貢献した．開発途上国の災害対応，復旧・復興においては国際協力が重要な役割を果たすため，その支援・調整の実態や地震災害による社会への影響について，災害直後から継続的に調査を行うことにより，開発途上国の災害対応，防災教育、復旧・復興における我が国の国際協力の方策策定に貢献した．
我が国においては，この地震と同様な，プレート境界における地震が都市の直下で発生するケースとして，首都圏直下地震が想定されており，また，南海トラフ巨大地震や内陸巨大地震においては大規模な斜面崩壊・深層崩壊の発生が懸念されている．将来，我が国で発生し得る首都圏直下地震，南海トラフ巨大地震や内陸巨大地震の地震災害の軽減と，合理的な復興戦略策定のための重要な知見を得ることができた．
