An important closing achievement of this 3-year project was the international conference: “Traditional Sciences in Asia 2017 -- East-West Encounter in the Science of Heaven and Earth,” 京都大学国際シンポジウム:天と地の科学―東と西の出会い, Kyoto University (Oct 26-28, 2017), jointly organized by Kyoto University, Institute for Research in Humanities and Hakubi Center. In total, over 30 talks/posters were presented with over 60 participants. PI gave seven public lectures internationally to present his latest research: 1. Inaugural Otto Neugebauer Lecture in the History of the Exact Sciences in Antiquity (Brown University, U.S.); 2. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; 3. University of Bologna, Ravenna, Italy; 4. U di Genova, Italy; 5. University of Calcutta, India; 6. Banaras Hindu University, India; 7. Stanford University, U.S., and seven conference presentations: a. Max-Planck-Institut fuer Wissenschaftsgeschichte, Berlin; b. Congress of the International Association of Buddhist Studies (University of Toronto, Canada); c. 日本印度学仏教学会第六十四回学術大会, Kyoto; d. U di Ca' Foscari, Venice; e. SEASIA 2017 (Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand); f. American Oriental Society (Pittsburgh, U.S.); g. Joseph Needham Symposium on Early Cultural & Scientific Transmission across Eurasia with China (The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong). Three articles on various aspects of Greco-Indian astral science were published in peer-reviewed journals: Journal of Indian and Buddhist Studies, History of Science in South Asia and Zinbun.
