Outline of Final Research Achievements |
ESR (electron spin resonance) method has been applied to obtain the retrospective radiation doses given to human by various radiation accidents. Using analysis software "ESR Data Process" of the ESR measurement spectrum, we evaluated a radiation dose by subtraction technique to take away an organic radical ESR signal of the dentin of the background from the teeth enamel ESR signal of the tooth extraction sample. As a result, we were able to evaluate the low dose radiation exposure that was lower than about 0.1Gy. We assessed that the dose ranging 0.040-0.70 Gy would be due to dental diagnostic x rays. Furthermore, we will evaluate a radiation dose by subtraction technique about people exposed to radiation with Fukushima nuclear plant accident and at a long distance with Nagasaki atom bomb.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
