Outline of Final Research Achievements

The present study aimed to develop and implement patient education material and program through multidisciplinary collaboration for patients with interstitial pneumonia. For the educational material, we created an educational pamphlet collaborating with doctors, nurses, nutritionists, physiotherapists, and nursing university instructors. The usefulness of the educational material for patients with interstitial pneumonia was evaluated at two institutions providing medical care for interstitial pneumonia, and suggestions were obtained indicating that the material was easy to understand and highly useful. The developed educational material was used by multiple disciplines in patient education at seminars planned for patients and their family members, as well as for inpatients and outpatients of the respiratory medicine ward of the study facility, and was posted on the website of the outpatient department as educational material regarding interstitial pneumonia.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

当研究活動をとおして、間質性肺炎患者に対する科学的根拠と多職種による専門的な視点を加えた教育教材を開発し、教材を評価する調査から対象者に対し理解しやすく有用性の高いものである示唆を得た。また、多職種で企画された患者・家族に対する学習会などの教育プログラムにおいてこの教材は使用され、また調査施設の呼吸器病棟・外来における患者教育でも活用されている。さらに、調査施設の外来診療のホームページに掲載されるなど、患者やその家族が容易にアクセスできるものとなっていることから、当研究活動は今後の患者教育に寄与できるものであったと考える。
