Outline of Annual Research Achievements

ヒト腸内細菌叢の機能を解析するため、インドTranslational Health Science and Technology Instituteと共同研究を実施し、インド・デリーに居住する50名の健康成人の糞便サンプルを採取し、また日本の健康成人47名からも糞便サンプルを採取し、DNAを抽出し、中村昇太博士（大阪大学遺伝情報実験センター）により次世代シークエンサーを用いて腸内細菌叢を解析した。その結果、日本人ではバクテロイデス属細菌が優勢であったのに対し、インド人ではプレボテラ属細菌が優勢であった。インド人で優勢となっているプレボテラ属細菌の中でも、特にPrevotella copriが増加していた。これは、既報にもあるように、タンパク質源として主に穀物を取るインド人ではプレボテラ属細菌が優勢になるのに対し、タンパク質源として肉類を取る日本人ではバクテロイデス属細菌が優勢になったものと考えられる。
さらに、腸内細菌だけでなく中村昇太博士が開発した真菌叢解析技術を用いて、腸内真菌叢の比較解析を行った。その結果、日本人ではサッカロマイセス属真菌が優勢であった。一方、インド人ではカンジダ属真菌が優勢であることが明らかになった。腸内真菌叢の本格的な解析はこれまで行われたことがなく、今回始めて居住地域により、腸内真菌叢も劇的に変化することを明らかにすることができた。インド人で優勢になっているカンジダ属真菌は、Candida albicans, Candida tropicalisであった。これらのカンジダ属真菌は病原性真菌としていても知られている。
