Current Status of Research Progress
Current Status of Research Progress

1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.

Reason

- The project progressed smoothly and exceeded what we initially expected thanks to the additional support from 国際共同研究強化. The administrative work related to the local research group was handled by the substitute staff. Most of the overseas events were made possible also with the additional funding.
- The digitalization project was made possible by bringing together various parties which include the American Philosophical Society, NYU, Brown University, John Hay Library, IIT Bombay and international scholars who are interested in this project.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

Besides the two aforementioned projects which will result in publications and web database in FY2017, the network of scholars established during the overseas period will contribute to the following three projects:
i) Ongoing research and publication of the Gargasamhitaa workgroup with manuscript materials from archive at APS and Brown University. Preliminary report is expected to be published within FY2017.
ii) Participation of the panel "Buddhist astral science" in the Conference of International Association of Buddhist Studies (IABS) to be held in Aug 2017 in Toronto, Canada.
iii) Participation of the International Conference on Traditional Sciences in Asia (ICTSA 2017) to be held in Oct 2017 in Kyoto, Japan.
