Research Abstract |
The purpose of this project is to investigate business models of medium and small sized firms around the world and to generalize successful business models. In an introductory chapter we began by considering the concept of business models, and to set up VRISA analysis (Value, Rareness, Imitability, Substitutability, Appropriability) was based on Alan Afuah (2003) Business Models : Strategic Management Approach, McGraw-Hill Irwin. We made an analysis of each case from chapter 1 to chapter 16 as follows : Chapter 1 : Bonpreu (Spain ; the supermarket for fresh food), Chapter 2 : Studentsphone.com (Spain ; mobile phone intermediary agency for international students), Chapter 3 : Zara (Spain ; IT textile business), Chapter 4 : H&M (Sweden ; fables textile business), Chapter 5 : ISS (Denmark ; global facility service), Chapter 6 : B-Bridge (USA ; Bioventure), Chapter 7 : Yaegaki Corporation of USA (USA ; Japanese sake maker), Chapter 8 : Galantz (China ; disruptive innovator in an appliance industry), Chapter 9 : Akikawa Bokuen (Japan ; organic food business), Chapter 10 : Korea Film Industry (Korea ; government-sponsored film industry), Chapter 11 : JAFCO America Ventures, Inc. (USA ; hybrid venture capital between Japan and USA model), Chapter 12 : Alibaba.com (China ; e market place), Chapter 13 : Pixera (USA ; microscope camera system), Chapter 14 : Irodori (Japan ; community business for elderly people), Chapter 15 : Hotel I in Malaysia (Malaysia ; government-linked hotel company), Chapter 16 : Private hospital in Thailand (Thailand ; corporate hospitals). These mentioned above are scheduled for publication by BUNSHINDO, (provisional title) Beginning Business Models : Case Studies of Successful Business Models of Medium and Small Sized Firms around the world.
