Outline of Annual Research Achievements

アラスカのバロー、ノルウェーのニーオルスン、沖縄辺戸岬においてCOSMOS測定器に不具合が生じたので、COSMOS本体を交換したり、故障した部品を交換するなどして、これらの地点とカナダのアラート観測所、ロシアのバラノバ岬観測所においてCOSMOSによる観測を、約1年にわたり同時に測定した。また、数年間にわたり北極で観測された大気中のBC濃度とモデル計算値との比較を行ない、モデルによる観測の再現性を評価した。またバラノバでの観測とモデルとの比較から、バラノバでのBCは石油精製時のフレアリングに伴い発生するBCの影響を強く受けていることが判明した。
フィンランド、アラスカ、南シベリアの広域で2012-2016年に採取された積雪中のBC濃度の解析から1) 地形やBCの排出量の分布がBCの質量濃度と粒径分布の緯度変化に大きな影響を及ぼすこと、2)本研究で測定された積雪中のBCの濃度は先行研究に比べ平均して2-25倍低い値であった。このため気候モデルの再検証を行うことが重要であるとう結果を得た。このことから観測された降雪量、積雪中のBCの濃度、沈着量を気象研究所の気候モデルによる計算値と比較した。この比較の結果、モデルはこれらの量の絶対値と空間分布を大変良く再現することが分かった。
バローにおいて2012-2017年に観測された降雪・降雨中のBC濃度データと沈着フラックスの詳細な解析を行い、それらの季節変動の特徴を明らかにした。この観測結果とモデル計算値との比較を行った。この結果、夏季には降水中のBC濃度が相対的に高くなることは、森林火災によるBCの発生によることが分かった。
