Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究は、従来の広域音韻類型論の限界を打開するために、新接近法を導入して、未開拓の問題の解明を目指す。具体的には「稀少特徴の類型論」と「地域類型論」とを統合した新接近法を使って、カラハリ盆地言語帯の稀少音韻特徴の事例研究によって、音韻類型論の新しい研究動向を展開する。2019年度は、前年度に引き続き、プロジェクトの具体的な成果がさらに刊行された。それは、言語音の多様性についての理解拡大に貢献している。主要なものとしては、7月上旬に研究代表者が国際歴史言語学会で行った基調講演、9月上旬に研究代表者と海外共同研究者が国際言語類型論学会で行った口頭発表が挙げられる。その他にも、当プロジェクトから様々な研究業績が多数刊行された。
5月下旬の日本アフリカ学会学術大会の際に大会運営委員会から協力を得て、国内のコイサン研究者との研究集会を開催し、本プロジェクトの現地社会へのアウトリーチや社会還元の手法について討議した。また、8月に本プロジェクト主催の第5回国際研究集会をドイツのライプチヒ大学で開催した。
パラレル語彙データベースを次のように整備した:データベースに入力済みの西コン語以外の全ての標本言語のデータは、入力情報の正確性と一貫性整備のための最終的な校正作業を仕上げた。また、西コン語の資料入力も年度内に終了した。このデータベースを活用し、様々な音韻単位の頻度の統計的分析を行い、その一部を上記の国際学会で発表した。テキスト・コーパス編纂については、当初の「浅く広いデータ」という方針から、規模の大きいコーパス構築が可能な言語を厳選して編纂する方針に転換した。
次年度が最終年度となるため、本研究の拡大発展構想である研究課題の計画調書を作成し、(1)標本言語拡張、(2)調査組織拡大、(3)テキストコーパス拡充を盛り込んだ、最終年度前年度申請を行い、2020年4月1日に採択内定を受けた。
