反転対称性の破れとフェルミオロジーが切り拓く5f電子系の新奇物性

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

グローバルに反転対称性が破れた系、あるいは非局所的に反転対称性が破れた系においてウラン化合物の物質探索と純良単結晶育成を行なった。立方晶U3Ni3Sn4においては残留抵抗比RRRが300を超える純良単結晶育成に成功し、ドハース・ファンアルフェン効果の観測に成功した。得られたフェルミ面はいずれもほぼ球状で、バンド計算との一致も良い。12ものバンドがフェルミエネルギーにかかっており、これはこれまで知られているフェルミ面の中で最も多い。30m0程度の重い有効質量が検出され、スピン起動相互作用によるフェルミ面の分裂を明らかにした。ウラン化合物の反転対称性が破れた重い電子系物質で初めてフェルミ面を明らかにすることができた。成果はJPSJにすでに掲載され、top 20以内の論文ダウンロード数を得ている。さらに、UNi5、URhSnについても純良単結晶育成とドハース・ファンアルフェン効果の実験が進展しつつある。UPtGeは、強磁性超伝導体URhGeのTiNiSi型結晶構造から、わずかに対称性が低下した空間反転対称性が破れた結晶構造を取る。スピン起動相互祖作用とDM相互作用が効いたサイクロイダルな磁気構造を持つ。強磁場実験により多段のメタ磁性が起きることを見出した。またトリウム化合物においてもThCu2Si2、ThAl3などのドハース・ファンアルフェン効果の測定を行い、そのフェルミ面を明らかにした。また、Ce5Si4というカイラル構造を持つ物質の磁性を明らかにした。さらに111系のカイラルの空間群を持つ系の物質探索を行い、一部については単結晶育成に成功し研究が進んでいる。

Reason

当初予定していた反転対称性のないウラン化合物の純良単結晶育成に成功し、ドハース・ファンアルフェン効果からフェルミ面を明らかにすることができた。ほぼ、予定通りの研究の進捗状況である。さらに、マイクロカンチレバーやメカニカルメンブレンセンサーを用いた微小試料によるドハース・ファンアルフェン効果観測の技術開発を行い、試料育成と精密物性測定の間のポジティブなサイクルが回り始めた。これにより、さらに物質探索のスピードが上がり、新物質の発見および反転対称性の破れによる新奇量子相の研究につながることが期待できる。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

空間群の情報をたよりにさらに物質開発を進める。とくに、334の系については、重い電子系、半金属、半導体など物質によってその性質がバラエティに富んでおり、系統的な研究を進めたい。111系についてはZrNiAl型のウラン化合物が多数知られているため、これらも系統的に研究したい。単結晶育成技術として、超高真空下のアニール、高周波炉を用いた融点直下までのアニールなど技術開発を進めているところである。またSSEによる原料および試料の純良化を行う予定である。これらは今年度内に整備を行いたい。
