| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
【運動介入】12週間のバランス運動介入が高齢者の認知機能に及ぼす影響を、介入方法（二重課題介入、単一課題介入、待機）と年齢（74歳未満または74歳以上）に着目して検証した結果、２つの介入方法で違いはなく、74歳以上においてのみ介入果が確認された。また、以前の運動介入研究データの再解析の結果、介入による全般的認知機能の向上、前頭前野における容積増大、皮質厚増大、前頭野内の脳機能結合の効率化が確認された。
【音楽経験の影響】生涯にわたって楽器練習を継続する音楽群高齢者の認知・脳機能を非音楽群と横断比較した結果、音楽群の優位性が実行機能検査、脳構造（小脳の灰白質容積）、聴覚メロディーのワーキングメモリ課題中の脳活動において見られた。また、新たに取り組む楽器演奏訓練が高齢者の認知機能に及ぼす効果に関して、4ヶ月の楽器練習をした群は、待機群に比べ言語記憶成績が向上し、視覚ワーキングメモリ課題中の脳機能結合の減少、すなわち神経処理の効率化が記憶成績の向上に相関する形で見られた。
【多感覚統合】固有感覚情報とは矛盾する視覚情報を与えてミラーハンド／フット錯覚を引き起こしたところ、高齢者は視覚情報を消失させてもその影響が長時間残存しており、感覚情報間の重みづけを柔軟に切り替える機能が低下している可能性が考えられた。
【歩行制御】これまで開発してきたバーチャルリアリティ（VR）下での衝突回避経験の効果を検証した。その結果、衝突回避に加えて、回避行動を最小にする目標を与えた健常高齢者に対しては、実環境動作での衝突回避行動が改善することを明らかにした。
【世代間交流】世代間交流によって変化する記憶の神経基盤についてのfMRI解析を進め、異世代の人物との交流によって学習された記憶の想起に関わる側頭葉先端部と上側頭溝後部領域の間のネットワークが、加齢によって低下することが確認された。
