Highly-accurate validation of Himawari-8 aerosol data using international ground-based remote sensing networks

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の目的は、新時代に突入した我が国の高時間・高空間解像度の静止気象衛星ひまわり8号のエアロゾルデータを高確度で検証することである。これは、ひまわり8号が欧米の新世代の静止気象衛星に先駆けたものである上、高時間・高空間解像度データに基づくこれまでにない高度な応用研究を世界に先駆けて開拓するために不可欠である。アジアを中心に構築した独自の地上リモートセンシング観測網(SKYNET)だけでなく、他の国際観測網(AERONET, GAW-PFR)の観測機器を保有し、それらの国際観測網と連携して高確度に検証比較を本研究代表者のみが可能な研究である。
H30年度は、これまでの検証研究を発展させる形で、地上観測網データを用いた高次の検証比較研究を実施した。2018年11月には千葉大学で実施した集中観測において、SKYNET/スカイラジオメーターのエアロゾル光学的厚さ(AOT)データ(新規開発した共通自動解析アルゴリズム(SR-CEReS)で高精度導出)を基準にして、ひまわり8号およびGCOM-C(しきさい)のAOTデータの評価を行った。両衛星データは0.05以内で一致したことが分かった。しかしながら、スカイラジオメーターの値よりも過大となる傾向があることも分かった。4方位角(東西南北)に向けた多軸差分吸収分光法(MAX-DOAS)装置による観測などから、この過大傾向はエアロゾル分布の空間不均一性で説明できなかった。GCOM-Cとひまわり8号の値はお互いに良く一致していることから、過大評価の要因は両方の導出アルゴリズムに共通している項目が原因であることが示唆された。ひまわり8号の値が過大となる傾向は、早朝や夕方の太陽高度が低いときに顕著となる傾向も認められた。これらのことは、今後のひまわり8号のデータ質改善、ひいては応用研究に役立つことが期待される。
