Outline of Annual Research Achievements

近年、ナノ粒子を医療に応用するナノ医学が発展しつつある。ナノ粒子を用いた癌治療において粒子の腫瘍組織への集積効率を向上させることは治療効果の改善に極めて重要である。EPR (Enhancement Permeability and Retention) 効果等によるパッシブ・インベージョンは腫瘍血管の内皮細胞の配列が正常血管に比べて粗雑であるため、正常血管では漏出が極めて少ない直径250 nm のナノ粒子が漏出し、さらに腫瘍組織のリンパ管が未発達であるため、ナノ粒子の排出が遅く腫瘍組織内に滞留することが関係する。EPR効果については粒子サイズが極めて重要である。さらに腫瘍組織への侵入の第一段階であるナノ粒子の腫瘍血管への集積(アンカリング技術)の開発を進めている。
