Keywords | Data-Driven Learning / Extensive Reading |
Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
We have improved the Extensive Reading materials developed through the use of Contemporary Data-Driven Learning. Based on T-test analysis, we are finding evidence of moderate improvement taking place among learners who read 200,000 or more words, who also use materials derived from a corpus of graded readers. We have found the results so far to be promising.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
In terms of materials creation and experimentation of Data-Driven Learning (DDL) with Extensive Reading (ER), we are making clear and promising progress. However, we have yet to engage in the later part of our intended research, which is to engage in a grounded theory study of the social interactions taking place within the pedagogic arena of extensive reading. This will require more of our attention in the final year of this project.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
We are refining the materials created to enhance lexicogrammatical acquisition based on corpus-driven insight. We are at this point also beginning to disseminate more of our findings and are in the process of preparing for a grounded theory investigation.
|
Causes of Carryover |
We wished to use the amount from last year for the final year, during which we will be disseminating our findings and also preparing for the grounded theory-based aspects of this investigation.
