Outline of Final Research Achievements

A questionnaire study indicated that more termination behaviors were observed in mutual terminations. Longitudinal studies suggested that change in clients' presenting problems was significantly correlated with therapists’ therapeutic alliance and self-efficacy scores. Case studies of long-term therapy clients suggested that they had experienced positive emotions as well as loss and sadness. For supervisees, supervision process on the whole appeared to impact upon their experiences in supervision sessions on termination.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

今後の心理療法実践ならびにセラピスト教育・訓練について、以下の点が示唆される。まず、セラピスト・クライエント双方が合意した終結の場合は適切な終結行動が行われやすいことから、心理療法開始時点から、目標を明確に設定し、終結について両者の間で合意しやすいように心理療法を進めていくことが求められる。またセラピストは、面接において治療同盟を明確に確立していくことが必要と言える。スーパービジョンにおいては、心理療法プロセス全体を通じたスーパービジョンが、終結に関する指導に対しても影響を与えていることを踏まえ、心理療法プロセス全体を通して、セラピストによる治療同盟の確立の程度に対して留意する必要がある。
