Multiple verification methods of general relativity by gravitational waves from binary black holes

Outline of Annual Research Achievements

連星ブラックホールからの重力波を用いた,アインシュタインの一般相対論に対する様々な角度からの厳格な検証法を確立することが,本研究の目的である.具体的には,ブラックホールが一般相対論で予言されるものなのかどうか?強い重力場での一般相対論(アインシュタイン方程式の非線形性)は正しいのか?という問いに答えることができるようにすることである.
連星ブラックホールの合体後,ブラックホールが形成される際に放射されるブラックホール準固有振動で記述されるリングダウン重力波は,最新の第3次重力波観測の感度では,まだうまく捉えられていない.このことから,将来計画を想定し,リングダウン重力波からブラックホールの情報をどの程度の精度で得られるかについて議論し,第5次重力波観測(2025年予定)の時期に日本の重力波望遠鏡KAGRAが目指すべき感度について検討を行った.
一方でLIGO/Virgoの第3次重力波観測は,興味深い重力波源からの信号を捉えた.重力波イベント名GW190521である.この重力波源は,地上重力波望遠鏡にとっては大きい質量の連星ブラックホールであり,主にマージャー重力波とリングダウン重力波が観測された.ただ,遠方からの重力波であるために信号対雑音比が小さく,ブラックホール・スペクトロスコピー(様々なブラックホール準固有振動を観測し,スペクトルの無矛盾性を見る)をするためには十分ではなかった.将来計画を意識し,宇宙重力波望遠鏡計画B-DECIGOを考慮した相対論の非線形の検証方法としての「インスパイラル・リングダウン無矛盾テスト」について議論した.
上記以外にも多くの重力波が観測されたことから,その連星系の起源について研究を進めた.
最後に,最終年度であることから,特に,インスパイラル理論重力波波形に関するレビュー論文を作成した.査読が終了し,現在出版待ちの状態である.
