Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
During this fiscal year we finalized and published the Mt. Fuji eruption history, which was widely reported in both the domestic and international media. We also publicly released the age-depth modeling software developed for reconstructing Mt. Fuji eruption history. These were separately published in international, peer reviewed journals with all data made public.
We also finished the monsoon reconstruction using Lake Motosu sediments. We used both oxygen isotopes of aquatic cellulose and organic geochemistry for this work. The area exhibits a drying over the course of the Holocene, which is similar to records from mainland Asian. The Lake Motosu record represents an important contribution to the understanding of monsoon dynamics because of the location, near the fringe of the East Asian Monsoon System.
