Outline of Final Research Achievements

To explore new therapeutic candidates for aimed to overcoming of metabolic syndrome from complementary and alternative medicinal natural resources worldwide, we have examined the bioassay-guided separation and structure determination of the active constituents among them and the synthetic studies including the corresponding analog synthesis and SAR studies.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

補完医療や代替医療に用いられる天然資源のなかで，疾病の予防や初期症状の緩和などの生体調節機能を有する食用資源について，その機能の科学的評価と機能を発現する分子の特定を行ない，科学的評価に基づく機能性食品素材の開発を志向した食品薬学研究を行う．加えて，見いだした機能性成分を鋳型とした高活性アナログの網羅的合成および生物活性評価による医薬候補物質の創製を併せて実施する．本研究成果によって，新たな機能性食品素材が見いだされ，また，その機能性成分をシーズとした新たな医薬候補物質の提案に繋がることが期待される．
