Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The International Agency for Research on Cancer classified a refractory ceramic fiber (RCF), which is a fibrous material, as possibly carcinogenic to humans. Factors related to the potential toxicology of fibrous materials are dose, dimension and durability. In this study, in order to evaluate the durability which is one of them, dissolution properties of the RCF were examined experimentally. The RCF continued to dissolve Si and Al in simulated biological fluid. By kinetic analysis, it was estimated that the RCF has not accumulated in lungs for several decades.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
