Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Excess phosphate aggravates renal injuries. We have previously reported that magnesium attenuates phosphate-induced tubular cell injuries. Here we studied in vivo effects of magnesium on kidney injuries induced by high-phosphate diet. We found that increasing dietary magnesium improved kidney injuries caused by high phosphate diet. In addition, downregulation of renal αKlotho expression by high phosphate diet was restored by increasing dietary magnesium intake.
