Outline of Final Research Achievements

We investigated the relationships among genetic aberrations, image characteristics and histology using Japanese cohort of adult diffuse gliomas. In lower grade glioma (WHO grade II and III gliomas), IDH1/2 and TERT promoter mutational statuses were significantlly associated with several radiomic parameters including lesion location information.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究では、神経膠腫における遺伝子変異と放射線画像所見の関係を検討することで、定量的評価により客観性を持って両者に相関があることが明らかになった。本結果より、放射線画像を詳細に解析することで、ある程度の正確度をもって遺伝子型を予測することができる可能性が示唆された。これは、手術などを用いないで非侵襲的に腫瘍の診断を予測する技術につながる可能性があり、本疾患の診療や治療法の開発に重要な知見と考えられた。
