Research Abstract |
1. Introduction The purpose of this study offered a place of mutual interchange to dementia of early stage and younger dementia (as objects) and a care family by art therapy. We observed the development as a self-help group of care families and tried intervention of art therapy aimed for promotion of social participation of objects and improvement of psychology / behavioral disorder for two years. 2. Methods We offered a place of mutual interchange by art therapy and evaluated changes such as a recognition function of objects, ADL, QOL by observation. We performed group interview while performing counseling to the family who took care of the formation of a self-help group for a purpose. It was period:2005.8〜2006.12. 3. Results and Discussion As a result of having carried out art therapy to objects for six months, (1) In everyday life, maintenance / improvement of aggressiveness / initiative was confirmed. (2) It can be expected an effect by intervention in a slight illness or a medium grade symptom. (3) The opportunity that found a new role of a person of object was possible by art therapy. (4) Existence of a person who experienced care functioned as a consultant. And they became a role model as a care family. 4. Conclusion Art therapy was (1) effective as a place of mutual interchange and functioned as of productive and a progressive place. (2) It let the psychological side activate. (3) It promotes social participation. (4) By an offer of an affirmative place, It kept emotion of a person of object stability. And It affected relationship between objects and their family. In future, We plan environmental substantiality and maintenance to continue art therapy. We want to build a consultation function and a role function, and to do a proposal to a policy.
