Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題は，[課題1] モデリング手法，計算アルゴリズムの開発，[課題2] 台風データ駆動型シミュレータの開発，[課題3] 地震動データ駆動型シミュレータの開発の3つのサブ課題に分けて進めている．

[課題1]では，データ駆動型シミュレータに対応する階層的確率モデルの定式化，および具体的なシナリオ生成方法の検討を行った．自然災害の物理過程を支配する物理量 (風速など)の空間分布は多次元関数で表現されるが，この多次元関数の不確実性はガウス過程モデルで表現できる．そこで，物理量の空間分布をガウス過程モデルの実現値として与えた下で，現象の物理過程の時間発展を表現する確率モデルを導入した．さらに，この確率モデルに基づいて，自然災害現象の仮想シナリオを逐次モンテカルロ法で生成するアルゴリズムを設計した．簡単な問題設定でこのアルゴリズムを実装し，実際に「データ駆動型シミュレータ」が構成できることも確認した．同時に，ガウス過程モデルで表される物理量の空間分布およびその不確実性についての効率的な推定方法も検討した．ガウス過程モデルは，データ量が大きい場合，推定に要する計算コストが高くなる傾向がある．そこで共分散関数の構造を局所化して，効率的かつ妥当な推定を行う手法を開発した．テスト用のデータを用いて，開発した手法の有効性も確認した．一方で，より風速場などのベクトル場に適した別の定式化についても検討を進めており，radial basis functionネットワークを活用したモデリングについて試行的な研究を行った．
[課題2][課題3]では，準備作業としてデータの収集，機械学習を用いたデータ処理手法の開発などを行った．また，[課題1]のデータ駆動型シミュレータの開発への活用の試行も行った．

Reason

予定していた「データ駆動型シミュレータ」の定式化，および効率的な推定方法の開発を進めることができた．また，逐次モンテカルロ法により，実際に仮想シナリオ生成をプログラムとして実装可能であることが確認できた．初年度としては十分な成果が得られたと言える．

Strategy for Future Research Activity

予定どおり，「データ駆動型シミュレータ」の基礎となる階層的確率モデル推定アルゴリズムに関して検討を進め，実際に仮想シナリオを生成するためのサンプリング手法についても改良を進める．並行して，前年度に試行したradial basis functionネットワークなど，ガウス過程モデル以外のモデルの活用についても検討を進める．また，台風，地震動のそれぞれに関して，データ駆動シミュレータを構築する作業にも着手する．
