Outline of Annual Research Achievements

空間反転中心と鏡映面をもたない結晶にはカイラル性が生じ、右手系結晶と左手系結晶が得られる。そのようなカイラル結晶では、磁気モーメントは左右いずれかに巻いたカイラルらせん磁気構造となり、その利用は、スピン・オービトロニクスの中心テーマである。本研究では、カイラル磁性体の物質開発を行うとともに、磁気カイラリティを観測する多重極端条件下の中性子小角散乱実験環境を実現し、反対称スピン軌道相互作用の微視的解明を行うことを目的としている。3年間の研究期間を通して、ヘリウム3冷凍機、小角散乱用圧力セル、偏極スピン解析装置を開発し、4T超伝導マグネットと組み合わせた多重極端条件下の中性子小角散乱実験環境をJ-PARCのビームラインBL15 TAIKANに整備し、カイラル磁性体の磁気構造解析を行った。4f電子系新物質では、磁場誘起秩序相にて磁気スキルミオン格子の出現を観測、金属間化合物では、スキルミオン格子から創発磁気モノポール格子へ相転移する過程に出現する新たなトポロジカル磁気構造の発見、また、磁気スキルミオンの生成・消滅過程を数10 ms毎に観測することに成功するなど重要な成果を収めることができた。現在、磁気スキルミオンが発現する物質において、低温の臨界磁場付近の温度－磁場領域において、コニカル相と強制強磁性相の間に、熱ゆらぎによる未知の磁気中間相が出現することが理論及び交流帯磁率測定により示唆された物質について、この磁気中間相の磁気状態の詳細な測定を進めており、引き続き、実施していく。
