Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study elucidated the role of perception in learning and expansion of words　by use of Wittgenstein’s concept of aspect-perception.
First, I considered what is the condition of“ostensive teaching of words" and demonstrated that a learner has to change the way of seeing the object : see it as a paradigm. Second, I examined the condition of metaphorical extension and concluded that a speaker has to “notice a aspect” which contains seeing the similarity.
On the basis of these study results, I explained how these ways of seeing objects could produce new language games.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究の学術的意義は、第一にウィトゲンシュタインの言語観の転回の根底の部分にあった語りえぬ体験の次元を明らかにしたという点にある。第二に、言語の学習と拡張におけるアスペクト知覚の役割を明らかにすることで、言語哲学と知覚の哲学とを架橋する哲学研究の可能性を提示したという点にある。そして社会的な意義としては、AI研究の進展を通じて再び脚光を浴びつつある「記号接地問題」（記号が記号内のネットワークを超えていかにして感覚経験と結びつきうるのかという問題）についてウィトゲンシュタイン的な回答を提示することで、記号の意味を巡る問題に一つの回答の選択肢を提示したことにある。
