Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study aims to reconstruct the system for learning the Portuguese language in Japanese universities based on (1) the organization of an evaluation system of language capacity, (2) the establishment of an appropriate syllabus for studying Portuguese, and (3) the elaboration of a proper testing system. In this project, we investigated the actual situations of Portuguese language education in Japan and other countries and implemented an experimental evaluation and testing of the students taking a Portuguese language course. We edited lists of vocabulary at several levels, a phrasebook, and a grammatical reference manual as learning materials. Furthermore, an international education project has been started in collaboration with Brazilian Portuguese instructors and is expected to make valuable contributions to Portuguese language education.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
