| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
生体分解性超菲薄膜（バイオナノシート）を下記に示す様な現在の眼科診療が抱える様々なアンメットニーズへの活用について検討した。
①.手術や外傷などによる創口の閉鎖促進剤としての活用。ウサギやラットなどの小動物の角膜や強膜に意図的に創口を作成、その上に、バイオナノシートを貼付、創口閉鎖促進について確認した。②薬剤運搬素材としての活用。バイオナノシートに複数の眼圧下降剤を担持させ、標的組織における薬剤の徐放を行うdrug delivery system(DDS)の開発。今回の研究では、角膜表面、結膜下、硝子体内などへの薬剤の放出に関するDDSとしての可能性について検討した。③損傷組織被覆材としての有用性の検討。生体障害性がなく、透過性が高く、接着剤などが不要な超菲薄膜の特性を生かし、組織に対し低侵襲で角膜など透明組織への貼付が可能である特性を生かし、難治性角膜上皮障害などに対する有用性の検討。④緑内障濾過手術補助剤のしての活用。組織癒着防止作用のある薬剤を担持させ、薬剤を除法することとバイオナノシートの低癒着生による組織癒着防止により、濾過手術の好成績を来す。⑤細胞培地素材としての活用。低い細胞接着の特性を生かし移植細胞の生着コントール材としての可能性の探求。⑥光触媒により活性酸素放出素材を担持、眼表面もしくは結膜内に投与することで、耐性菌の発生が少ない眼表面滅菌システムの開発透明性についての検討。
これらはいずれも予備的実験ではその可能性が確認され、ヒトへの応用を念頭に製品の開発を目指したが、ＧＭＰ基準でのバイオナノシートの作成、さらに臨床研究に向けての資金の課題があり、現時点では動物実験のレベルに留まっている。
