Outline of Final Research Achievements |
There is a global shortage of nurse educators. In Japan, the act on the promotion of human resource development for nurses (1992), which aims to improve the quality and quantity of nurses, has led to the shift of basic nursing education to universities, while there is concern about a worsening shortage of faculty. This situation affects quantity and quality of nursing educators and brings decline of the quality of nursing education. The goal of our study was the development of a career path for novice nurse educators that would maintain quality standards in nursing education. This study presented the career paths of novice nursing faculty members, and they suggested the need for systematic career development support to motivate them to engage in educational and research activities and to increase their confidence in their research activities. Further research development is expected to enhance the qualitative and quantitative quality of nursing faculty.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
学術的意義は、看護系大学設置主体別の教員の実状と、質的・量的研究から明らかにした若手看護系大学教員のキャリア開発への影響要因に基づき、キャリア開発を支援するキャリアパスモデルを構築したことにある。本モデルにより、若手看護系大学教員へのキャリア移行支援プログラム開発という次なる研究に繋がることから、学術的意義は大きいと考える。 社会的意義は、看護師が次代の看護教育を担う看護系大学教員を目指し、また若手看護系大学教員がキャリア開発しながら継続的に働けるように、キャリアビジョンを見える化し、若手看護系大学教員への支援体制づくりに貢献する点にある。これにより、若手看護系大学教員不足の解消にも繋がる。
