Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In this study, we investigated the genomic consequences of evolutionary transitions between heterothallism and homothallism in Closterium peracerosum-strigosum-littorale complex, using the genome-wide polymorphism data from many wild samples. We revealed (1) recurrent transitions between mating types, (2) frequent segmental duplications particularly in homothallic strains, and (3) more accumulations of deleterious mutations in homothallic strains.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
