Outline of Final Research Achievements |
PRF (pulsed radiofrequency) is an analgesic treatment affecting to the nerve cells by intermittent application of high-frequency current. In recent years, PRF has been used clinically for the treatment because of its high safety profile, and its long-term efficacy has been demonstrated mainly for neuropathic pain. However, the definitive analgesic mechanism of this treatment has not been clarified to date. In the present study, PRF was performed prior to the modeling of a neuropathic pain. We observed the spinal dorsal horn by immunostaining and found that microglial expression in the PRF pre-treated group was significantly less than the control group. This suggests that PRF has the potential to reduce the development of neuropathic pain.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
