Research Abstract

本研究の目的は新旧両大陸で流行している原虫感染症のリーシュマニア症(「リ症」)について、その伝播疫学や病態生理を比較検討することによって本症の医学・生物学を解明し疾病対策に役立てることである。具体的な目的 : (1) 分子生物学的手法を駆使し両大陸「リ症」の伝播疫学的特性を明らかにする。(2) 分子疫学診断法を開発し本症の流行地への応用を図る。(3) 効果的かつ簡便な化学療法や免疫療法を検索・開発する。(4) 両大陸「リ症」の医学・生物学的特性や病態生理を比較し、亜属(Leishmania又は Viannia)レベルでの差異を比較検討する。
