| Outline of Final Research Achievements |
In December 2022, the principal investigator and a research associate served as editors of the book, "Let's Think About Indigenous Peoples and the Law," published by Shinzansha. The book aims to unravel the close but complex relationship between indigenous peoples and the law, both in history and in the present situation, from diverse perspectives including law, anthropology, political science, archaeology, and area studies. Although each chapter covers a diverse range of regions and themes, it refers as much as possible to international human rights law, particularly the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, which has been increasingly used in indigenous peoples' movements recently. The significance and challenges of the UN Declaration are then examined by identifying what specific impact it did/did not have on indigenous peoples, states, international organizations, and others.

| Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
本研究成果として出版した『考えてみよう 先住民族と法』は、国際人権法、特に先住民族の権利に関する国連宣言が、国際環境法や国際経済法などの他の分野にどのような影響を与えたか／与えなかったかの検討、さらにマオリやサーミ、アイヌ等の世界の先住民族にどのような影響を与えたか／与えなかったかの検討を行った。同書を通じて、先住民族の権利に関する国際人権法、特に先住民族の権利に関する国連宣言の実効性について多角的な視点から明らかにすることが出来た。
