Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究課題は、地球物理観測とデータの統合的解析を通して、白亜紀スーパークロンを中心とした、インド洋におけるゴンドワナ大陸分裂の初期過程の解明を目的とするものである。以下、本研究課題の実施概要を示す。
南インド洋の既存の地磁気異常、重力異常および海底地形データの収集・整理を継続し、南西インド洋海嶺周辺からコンラッドライズまでを中心に、現在から白亜紀スーパークロンの終了するC34(約8400万年前)までの年代同定や海底拡大史の再検討を継続した。特に、マダガスカル海嶺およびデルカノライズ周辺での地磁気異常を用い年代同定の再検討の結果、新たなデータのよる年代同定が可能となり、提唱されているC34以前の海洋底拡大史を修正する必要がある事がわかった。また、南部マダガスカル海嶺とデルカノライズが、C34頃には一体化した海台であった可能性を示した。これらの結果をまとめ、論文を国際誌に公表した。さらに、デルカノライズとコンラッドライズも一体化していた事が示唆された。かって一塊であったと考えられる海台、南部マダガスカル海嶺、デルカノライズおよびコンラッドライズの成因についても検討し、大規模な火成活動による形成では、説明が難しく、大陸地殻の断片である可能性も示された。さらに、収集したデータから、デルカノライズとコンラッドライズ間に三重会合点が存在した可能性が新たに示され、C34前後のインド洋の海底拡大史の再検証を行った。
また、国内外の観測船による新たなデータに取得されたデータを加え、観測データの整備を行った。
