Outline of Annual Research Achievements

2018年度及び2019年度に行った、事象関連電位を用いた、日本語の文末形式のモダリティと証拠性の意味的差異をさぐる脳波実験の分析を行った。モダリティと証拠性が異なる成分を惹起すること、、モダリティの処理には複数の可能世界が考慮されることによりコストがかかること、証拠性に関わる因果関係の処理を示す脳波成分があることなどが示された。これにより、モダリティと証拠性は、異なる範疇であり、因果関係はモダリティとは語用論的にかかわるが、証拠性では語彙的意味として因果関係がかかわる違いがあるとする理論の脳科学的裏付けをとることができた。この成果は、形式意味論、心理言語学の国際学会で発表した。
日本語の已然形+バの形式の用法の歴史的変遷について分析した。まず、先行文献およびコーパスを用いてデータの裏付けを取り、グライスの会話の含意を用いて、已然形+バの慣習的意味は、Update SemanticsにおけるConjunctionであるとし、歴史的な因果関係を示すいみは、I-implicatureから、現代日本語の条件文の意味は、Q-implicatureで説明できるとした。また、変遷過程を進化ゲーム理論で説明する分析を行った。この研究は、形式意味論、歴史言語学の国際学会で発表した。
日本語共通語と大阪方言、中国語、英語の文末表現とイントネーションと疑問文の意味計算について新しい構成意味論の規則を提案し、Inquisitive Semanticsと組み合わせる研究を、Jinan University(中国)のMengxi Yuan氏と行い、国際学会で発表した。

Reason

脳波実験に、有意義な成果があり、夏の国際学会で多方面に公開することができた。歴史言語学や助詞とイントネーションの構成意味論についても著名な国際学会で発表できた。
なお、9-10月は産後休業、2-3月は育児休業を取得している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

4-8月まで育児休業になるので、9月から研究を再開する。
新型コロナウイルスの状況にもよるが、おそらく9月からも脳波実験は難しいと考えられるので、オンラインの自己ペース読文実験、コーパス研究、理論研究を中心に進めていく予定である。

Causes of Carryover

9-10月に産後休業、2-3月に育児休業となったため、研究、実験をおこなっておらず、学会発表も、オンライン参加としたため。
2020年度は、実験の費用や、学会参加の旅費として使用する予定である。
