Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study examined how Japanese EFL learners process linguistic information (syntactic and semantic information) essential for real-time comprehension when listening to and comprehending auditory English sentences and how the linguistic information processing of auditory sentences differs depending on tasks given during comprehension. The results are expected to provide new insights into Japanese EFL learners' auditory sentence comprehension.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

日本人英語学習者を対象とした音声文理解における言語情報処理について検証した研究はほとんど無く、本研究を通して、学習者の音声文理解について検証する新たな実験方法を提案することができた。また、今回収集したデータを分析し、新たな知見を得ることを通して、外国語（英語）を「聞くこと」における、より効果的・効率的な学習・指導方法を提供し、外国語教育の教授法・指導技術・教材の開発に広く貢献することが期待される。
