Outline of Final Research Achievements

Floquet-Bloch theory is a fundamental tools of solid state physics. We have established its generalization to Heisenberg group. As its applications, we proved long time asymptotic formula of heat kernels on covering spaces and geometric analogue of the Chebotarev density theorem for Heisenberg extensions.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

Floquet-Bloch理論は通常無限アーベル群の対称性を持つ物質におけるシュレディンガー作用のスペクトルの構造の解析に用いられるもので,バンド理論とも呼ばれ,物性物理での基本ツールである.これまでその非可換拡張は非可換離散群は非I型と呼ばれるクラスに属するため,確立されていなかった.今回最も単純な場合ではあるが,最も基本的なHeisenberg群に対して確立したことは,新たな方向への第一歩となると考えている.
