Outline of Final Research Achievements

We identified a gene of betagenin as an intestinal peptide that promotes pancreatic β-cell increase and insulin secretion. In this study, we identified a novel betagenin receptor on pancreatic β-cells and performed a functional analysis of the receptor. Our findings suggest betagenin receptor may be useful for the therapeutic target for diabetes and regeneration of pancreatic β cells.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
