Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本研究の研究課題では、口腔の健康状態と全身との関連について分析を進めていた。
具体的には英国と日本の高齢者のデータを使用し、口腔の状態（歯の本数と義歯の使用）と社会的孤立との関係を比較・検討した。
日本老年学的評価研究の2016年の調査データと、英国縦断高齢化調査の2014/15年の調査データを用いて、横断研究をした（対象者数：日本, 119,829人; 英国, 3,958人）。口腔状態は、歯の本数（0本/1-9本/10-19本/20本以上）と義歯の使用（0-9本で義歯使用なし/0-9本で義歯使用あり/10-19本で義歯使用なし/10-19本で義歯使用あり/20本以上）を用いて評価。社会的孤立は、①独居、②子どもとの交流が乏しい（子と同居していない、あるいは子どもとのサポートの授受がない）、③親戚との交流が乏しい（親戚とのサポートの授受がない）、④友人との交流が乏しい（友人と会う頻度が月1回未満、あるいはサポートの授受がない）、⑤社会参加がない、それぞれに該当した場合を各1点として0～5点で評価した（点数が高いほど孤立傾向）。口腔の状態と社会的孤立との関連性を順序ロジスティック回帰分析により解析。解析では年齢、性別、学歴、所得、疾病、健康感、ADL（Activity of daily living）、喫煙の影響を統計的に調整。結果、日本と英国と共通して歯の本数が少ない人や、歯の本数が少なく義歯を使用していない人は社会的孤立スコアが高く、統計的に有意な関連性が認められた。その影響の程度は英国にて大きい可能性が示された。
