Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Recent life science innovations such as gene editing, gene drive, and synthetic biology have enabled human intervention in various organisms. This means that the ecological environment is being designed using these techniques. With the backdrop of these technological frontiers, this study examined how "relationship between society and environment" is being recognized by experts and consumers. As the discourse of the Anthropocene has spread in academic fields, and the evaluation of invasive species is changing, the boundary between nature and society is becoming vague. However, experts in ecology recognize the limitation of knowledge regarding the impact of technological interventions on the ecosystem, and consumers are also very uncomfortable with biotechnological interventions, especially in animals.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
