Research Abstract

本研究は、二層(DW)および多層(MW)カーボンナノチューブ(CNT)の精緻な成長と構造の制御法開拓ならびにその成長メカニズムの解明、物性解析を中心に研究し、さらにCNTの安全性・生体応用も含め、CNTの科学と応用の発展に向けた基礎科学的貢献を目的としている。4年目の本年度は、次のように予定に沿った成果を得ることができた。すなわち(1)2種類の異なった製法によるDWCNTs(触媒気相法とPeapodsの熱処理法)をラマン分光分析によって詳細な解析を行い、孤立状態および束状態のDWCNTsのラマン・スペクトルの違い、内外層チューブのカイラルベクトルの違いを解明した。(2)酸化および超音波処理によりカップ積層型CNTの長さ調製法を提案し、特に界面活性剤を用いず水に分散する方法を見出した。(3)単層CNT(SWCNTs)またはDWCNTsにジイソシアン酸エステルで修飾を行い、その構造解析や光学特性を評価・解析できた。(4)C60Peapods構造を単層CNTを用いて生成し、その電子構造計算によりpeapods構造の融合過程で電子状態が変化することを明らかとし、電子状態制御や3層チューブ形成の可能性が示唆された。(5)核酸によるCNT分散のメカニズムを解明するために各塩基ごとに欠陥や電子状態の異なるCNTとの親和性の計算を試み、電子状態の違いや欠陥の存在により分散性が異なることが示された。(6)MWCNTの生体応用のための安全性研究の一手法として、刺青に用いられるカーボンブラックを基準物質としてMWCNTと比較して(submitted)検討することを試みた。
これらの成果は国際会議での招待講演、論文発表等を通じて当該分野の科学に寄与できた。
