19世紀を中心とする中国・ロシア所在日本関係史料の体系的収集と分析、当該史料をめぐる国際共同研究を推進することによって、東アジアの国際環境の変容と日本近代化の位相を考察し、収集史料および目録情報等の学術資源化・公開利用をはかることを目的とする。
