Research Abstract

地震や火山噴火等の地殻活動は時に大災害を引きおこす。減災のためには,地震・火山活動を予測することも重要であり,多角的な監視手法の確立が必要である。近年,地震や火山活動などの地殻活動に関連する様々な電磁気学的な現象が報告されており,従来の弾性学的なパラメータに加えて,地殻活動を予測するための指標的なパラメータとして有効である可能性が極めて高い。本研究では,地震に伴う電磁気現象の(1)正確な把握およびそれらの物理機構の解明,(2)地圏-大気圏-電離圏結合過程の解明,さらに,(3)地震学や衛星データとの比較をするために,電磁気環境が良好でかっ大きな地震が繰り返し発生している台湾とインドネシアにおいて,多点複合ULF電磁場観測を行うことが目的である。
平成19年度はインドネシアの観測点の強化とデータ解析を主として実施した。インドネシアでのフィールドワークとしてスマトラ島コトタバンULF電場観測点の設置,スマトラ島コタブミULF電磁場観測点の電磁環境調査,ジャワ島プランブハウラトウULF電磁場観測点の観測強化,ジャワ島バンドン郊外のランバンVLF電離層監視観測点の設置を行った。また,2004年スマトラアンダマン地震に関連するULF電磁場現象,電離層擾乱を解析した。
台湾関連では,東海岸の花蓮近郊の観測点の改良をするとともに国立中央大学(中歴)にVLF電離層監視観測点を設置するとともに,GPSを用いたTEC(電離層総電子数)変動を解析することにより地震に関連する解析を行い,電離層擾乱の時空間的変動を調査した。その結果1999年集集地震について,地震の1目前および4日間前に電離層電子密度が減少し,その空間的な広がりは2000km未満であることがわかった。
