Research Abstract

地震や火山噴火等の地殻活動は時に大災害を引きおこす。減災のためには、地震・火山活動を予測することも重要であり、多角的な監視手法の確立が必要である。近年、地震や火山活動などの地殻活動に関連する様々な電磁気学的な現象が報告されており、従来の弾性学的なパラメータに加えて、地殻活動を予測するための指標的なパラメータとして有効である可能性が極めて高い。本研究では、地震に伴う電磁気現象の(1)正確な把握およびそれらの物理機構の解明、(2)地圏-大気圏-電離圏結合過程の解明、さらに、(3)地震学や衛星データとの比較をするために、電磁気環境が良好でかつ大きな地震が繰り返し発生している台湾とインドネシアにおいて、多点複合ULF電磁場観測を行うことが目的である。
平成21年度はインドネシア・プラブハンラトゥ観測点付近の電磁気探査と観測の欠測率を少なくする取り組みを行った。また、データ解析としてはGPSTEC(電離層総電子数)データ、ULF電磁データの解析を主として行ったが、異常変動を明確にするために、観測点の通常の状態を把握することに注意した。すなわち統計解析や信号弁別を主として実施した。
ULF電磁場については、日本の房総半島と鹿児島の10年間の統計解析の結果より地震の約20日前にスペクトル強度比が有意に上昇することがわかった。また観測データの異常出現後20日程度たつと、観測点近傍の地震活動度が上がる傾向があることわかった。しかしながら、イベントは少ないため正確ではない可能性も現段階では否定できない。
GPS-TECについて日本・長岡と中国・四川付近の10年間(1998-2008年)のデータ解析し、M>6の地震の数日前から2週間前に電離層電子密度が中国では有意に減少し、日本では有意に増加し、その空間的な広がりはかなり広がっていることを示した。
また、国立中央大学(中歴)と協働して地震に関連するTEC変動をより詳細に解析するために、琉球大学瀬底実験所に衛星ビーコン受信装置を設置した。
