Research Abstract

我が国が主体的に遂行する「統合国際深海掘削計画(IODP)において、ライザー掘削船「ちきゅう」の運用、国際計画の運営に加えて、国際共同研究の根幹である研究面において、我が国が主導する掘削研究を推進し、世界をリードすることを目指して、以下の研究を実施する:
(1)NanTroSEIZE:来る30年以内の発生確率50%とされる、南海トラフにおける海溝型巨大地震に関して、地震発生プロセスの包括的理解と、地震発生予測の高度化を計る。
(2)IBM:地球進化の解明に必要不可欠な大陸の起源に関する知見を得るために、伊豆小笠原マリアナ弧における、地殻進化過程および大陸地殻形成過程の包括的理解を進める。
(3)LIP/OAE:地球システム変動の包括的理解とその基本原理の解明を目指して、白亜紀温室期地球システムを総合的に解析する。
(4)Mohole:地殻貫通とマントル物質の採取を目的とした掘削提案の実現にむけた事前研究を実施する。
