Outline of Final Research Achievements	The major objectives of this research are to elucidate the role of the Tsushima clan as a component of the early modern Japanese state, the role of the Tsushima clan in diplomacy, and the influence of the Tsushima clan on the diplomacy of the shogunate, and to establish effective ways to contribute to current issues in historical studies. Specifically, we will develop an environment for the use of Tsushima clan archives as effective research resources (by developing a database for the collection of Nagasaki Prefectural Tsushima Historical Research Center and making images of the collection of Historiographical Institute The University of Tokyo available on the Internet), and hold a symposium for the general public in Tsushima City, Nagasaki Prefecture ("Expanding! Research on the History of Tsushima: Japan in the Edo Period as Seen from the Perspective of the Tsushima Clan") in Tsushima City, Nagasaki Prefecture.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements	本研究によって、これまで史料の現状（史料情報の検索の困難さや原本史料の状態の悪さによる閲覧の困難さ）によって、研究を進めにくい面があった対馬藩関連史料の研究環境が整備され、同史料を用いた研究が大幅に促進されることが予想される。また歴史学研究者と一般市民との歴史学研究成果への理解の溝については、大きく開いてしまっているままではあるが、本研究で実施した市民向けシンポジウムは研究者と一般市民との間を繋ぐ試みとして有益であり、今後の参照になりうると期待している。
