Outline of Annual Research Achievements

小惑星リュウグウ回収試料分析は終了しているが,最終年度も「砂の物質班」の班長として班の研究の総まとめ論文を研究代表者は作成し,Meteoritics & Planetary Science誌に投稿した。本論文は速やかに受理され,2023年10月にウェブ上に掲載された。また,研究班員の投稿する論文5本の作成に深く関わった(あと数本が投稿中ではある)。当初計画の予想とは違って,本研究の後半3年間は小惑星リュウグウ試料の研究が中心となった。リュウグウ試料の研究としては多くの成果を得ることができた。
ただ,最終年度は,本格的に宇宙塵の凍結乾燥による試料回収と同定を行うことができた。昨年度,蛍光X線顕微鏡と低加速電圧・低電流の走査電子顕微鏡(SEM-EDS)観察という2通りの方法で,凍結乾燥残渣から宇宙塵を探索する半自動探索方法の検討を行ったが改善できなかったため,人が探索する方法に戻した。今回は,テフロンシート毎に何kgの雪を昇華させるかを変えた。約40kgの雪をテフロンシート上で昇華させて,30個近い宇宙塵を回収することができた.これらは顕微ラマン分光分析を行い,含まれる有機物がCMコンドライト等の炭素質コンドライトよりも始原的な特徴を持ち,ほぼIDPの有機物と同じ程度始原的であることを示すことができた.ところが,意外にも,雪の昇華量が増えるほど硝酸塩等のエアロゾルがテフロンシート全面に結晶化してしまい,宇宙塵が回収できなくなるだけでなく,宇宙塵がエアロゾルの結晶化の核となってしまうことも明らかになった.
小惑星や彗星の中間赤外分光は,本年度も観測を行うことはできなかった。しかし,TAO望遠鏡の開発は2024年のファーストライトに向けて順調に進めることができた。
