Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
I gave a sole-authored paper presentation based on my research project, entitled “Erasing diversity in Japan through English: critiquing depictions of globalization in high school English textbooks,” at the 2024 Conference of the American Association of Applied Linguistics (AAAL). AAAL is widely regarded as one of the premier international conferences in the field of Applied Linguistics. The presentation was well-received, and I am currently preparing a manuscript to submit for publication based on the feedback I received at the conference.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
My process of preparing the manuscript was delayed by a medical condition: a herniated disc in my lower back that required surgery. I have entered the final stages of my recovery period and expect to fully resume my daily work and research routines before the end of May, 2024.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I have identified a journal which is a suitable candidate for the publication of my manuscript upon its completion: Asian Englishes. I am currently in the process of revising a rough draft of the manuscript and anticipate that I will be able to submit the final version for consideration during this academic year.
|
Causes of Carryover |
The main reason that I did not spend all of the remaining funds is that a medical issue prevented me from traveling abroad to attend the international conference in person. Instead, I presented remotely.
