Outline of Final Research Achievements

We implemented a food education program 149 times for two-year-old classes at nursery schools, etc.
The developed a food education program with using five senses consist of six sessions annually with 30 minutes per sessions has been improved based on reflection with teachers such as nursery teachers who were in charge and impressions collected at a later date. Almost all 2-year-olds enjoyed participating in this food education program, 96% of nursery teachers said they would recommend it to other nursery teachers (kindergarten), and 99% of parents said that they would like to continue the program.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

保育現場にあって２歳児からの食育プログラム例は限られており、実践園の保育関係者からは、「２歳でもできる、２歳からできる」活動として歓迎された。子どもが食を教材として五感を使う活動は、幼少期の食べる力を育てる観点のみならず、あらゆる「学び」に向けた内発的動機付けにつながることから、非認知能力やコミュニケーション能力などにも寄与することが示唆され、今後の研究の広がりが期待される。本研究で得られたノウハウや知見は書籍や動画を使った情報発信により社会に還元されている。
