Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究では、研究代表者が行う予定の、はやぶさ2帰還試料の初期記載において、地球物質汚染回避環境下で可視・近赤外域の反射分光測定を行い、C型小惑星リュウグウ表層物質試料からの直接的な有機物、水の検出を目的とする。1年目の実績として、測定精度向上のために、標準反射体の開発と測定装置光学系の途中に入れる金属メッシュの影響の調査を実施した。2年目の実績としては、リュウグウからの帰還試料の受入が無事完了し、地球物質汚染回避環境下、高純度窒素環境下において、クリーンチャンバー内での帰還試料の全体(バルク試料)としての反射分光測定を実施することに成功した。帰還試料の回収量が想定より多かったことから、測定スポット径を想定の2mm程度から面積で10倍程度大きくすることができたため、十分なS/Nで帰還試料の1~4μmの波長範囲での反射分光データを取得することに成功した。帰還試料の反射分光データからは、2.7μmの含水鉱物の特徴、3.4μmの有機物・炭酸塩鉱物の特徴を検出し、帰還試料が有機物と水を含んでいることが確認され、本研究の当初の目的は達成された。3年目は、帰還試料を個別粒子ごとに容器に分離して、個別の反射分光測定を実施した。個別試料の反射分光測定においては、容器からの反射光(散乱光)の影響を検討し、試料容器の素材をサファイヤ製にすることを決定した。帰還試料の最大は10mm程度あり、2mm程度のスポット径で、試料表面の場所による反射スペクトルの違いを測定することにも成功している。得られた科学成果は、帰還試料の初期記載論文としてジャーナル誌に発表済みである。また、本研究の特徴は、地球物質汚染回避環境下で、帰還試料を記載することであるため、試料を保管しているクリーンチャンバー内の清浄度を把握・評価することは極めて重要であり、そのために四重極型質量分析計を購入している。
