Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Due to the fact that accidents between bicycles and pedestrians are not decreasing, the national policy has changed in recent years, and efforts are being made to create “bicycle lanes”' and “shared roadways”' that separate bicycles from pedestrians. However, research on the bicycle riding environment is not sufficient, and it is difficult to say that the ideal design of the riding environment has been established. Therefore, we conducted field observation surveys using video cameras and riding experiments using test subjects, with the aim of clarifying the riding behavior of bicycles on various road types and the issues related to road design. Based on the results of the survey and experiments, we analyzed the choice of driving position on the road and the occurrence of the collision with pedestrians and dangerous avoidance, and based on this, we clarified the issues in road design.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
